SC Woman Files Suit Against Day Care Center For Daughter's Brain Injury

A South Carolina woman has filed a lawsuit against a day-care operator who pleaded guilty to slapping her daughter so hard it caused bleeding in the child’s brain.

The lawsuit also alleges that the state Department of Social Services was negligent in its oversight of the day-care center.

The lawsuit alleges that the day-care operator caused “serious bodily injury and harm to [the girl] by slapping her in the face, and allowing the girl to remain at the center for about six hours “with no medical assistance, examination, or treatment.”

As a result, the child who was “visibly injured and in need of immediate medical attention and treatment,” the child has suffered serious injuries resulting in medical bills in the tens of thousands.
